Continued from my previous blog entry…
Two ‘Asia weeks’ have past. They have been great so far!
The first 4 days we spent looking for a new apartment. Traditionally, there are three residences where INSEAD students live: Heritage View, Dover Parkview, and the One North Residences, all close to the INSEAD campus. After having contact with numerous brokers (you would be surprised how many there are in Singapore) my girlfriend and I found a nice apartment in the One North Residences.
Life is good here! We have already met many INSEAD students that also live in the area. One North has nice swimming pools and barbecue places where INSEAD students frequently hang out and have barbecues together.
Singapore itself has an very open economy. It is an Asian city with strong western elements. Almost one third of the Singaporean residents are expats. It is a very modern, comfortable place for expats (very s
afe with very good facilities and infrastructure) and also is a great base to explore South East Asia from. We have already taken our a first international trip too. Shortly after signing the contract for the apartment we flew to the Phi Phi Islands, Thailand.
All in all… a great start in Asia!
